The best new rock bands are not always easy to find. I love finding new bands before the labels get their hands on them. I like finding bands before they go big. Among a dozen of the best new rock bands, the one I chose to write about here is Rey Fresco.

One of the songs that got Rey Fresco into the best new rock bands category is Dorothy. This is one of their softer songs on The People. The best new rock bands will do more than sing a song, they tell you a story, that's why Dorothy wins the prize.

The best new rock bands must have more than good music skills, song originality is required. Prior to the story line unfolds, the intro is played by Xoco, who is the harp player in the band, surely one of the reasons I love this song.

If the lyrics include a sense of meaningful story telling, this can also help determine the best new rock bands. The song I am writing about is Dorothy, and it is about her personal story. Who is she really? I can definietely see her being a "wana-be" artist just trying so hard to make it but she just can't. The main chorus in the song goes something like this: "Hard times in the city, bright lights shining on me. You might think that its so easy, walking all over town, confusion in your mind".

They would never call themselves one of the best new rock bands, but here is a little from them.

It is about the life in the city, on a more serious note. Basically about the wealthy getting more wealthy and the poor getting more poor. We named the song after one of our musical influences, her name is Dorothy Ashby.

Best new rock bands of today? Music review on Hey Girl by Rey Fresco.

First you will find out why I think they are in the "best new rock bands" category, and your comments are very welcome in the comments area.

Any one of the other best new rock bands would agree they hit the nail on the head with this one.

The intro is definitely a strong point of the song using bees and their honey as metaphors, clever because it is sweet. The transition of the intro to chorus is so smooth, nothing less would be accepted for being one of the best new rock bands.

As for the lyrics in this flowing tune, they are truly just as tasty and meaningful. Roger sings it with conviction and has some pipes!

This band goes above and beyond in the next part which is by Xoc on the raquinta, gosh, what IS a raquinta you may ask? Google it, its quite amazing.

The percussion department is flawless with a good and simple beat to carry us through the song. Same goes for the bass, the rhythm is well taken care of. There are sounds of some brass instruments in the background that only adds to them being one of the best new rock bands. The mix and delivery of all of the above is where this bands wins the prize. Clearly defining them as one of the best new rock bands.

A love anthem about mother earth and her seed bearing plants. "Hey girl" is a metaphor for mother earth, and we give praises to God for allowing mother earth to grace and bestow us with all of her gifts.

This is a tune that I could listen to over and over.

All in all, there is not really anything I could say that is bad about this song. Again, what do you expect from the list of the best new rock bands.

So is it one of the best new rock bands of today? Of course you can't totally agree without hearing it, but I recommend checking them out.
